Check if the eDellRoot certificate is installed on your device

David Wibergh, about Online Privacy

A user on Reddit discovered that a newly bought Dell XPS 15 had a certificate installed that shouldn’t be there.

A root certificate can generate certificates for all websites and applications as long as you have the private key, which Dell unfortunately provides. This is a huge security risk similar to SuperFish and we recommend all our users to check if you have this certificate installed on your computer. If you have it, you should definitely remove it.

To check if you have the certificate installed, you can go to the following websites:

https://edell.tlsfun.de/
https://dellrootcheck.detectify.com

If the websites say you have the root certificate installed, you can remove it by using Dell’s official tool.
