This is the monthly transparency report for July 2016.

OVPN had zero planned or unplanned service interruptions in July.

Summary

Our VPN servers had an uptime of almost 100% during July. OVPN encrypted and anonymized 871 TB, which is an increase from June. July almost broke the previous traffic record of 873 TB.

Below are the traffic and uptime statistics from our current datacenters.

Analysis

Our datacenter in Malmö has a maximum capacity of 10 Gbit/s. However, during July the traffic load amounted to 595 Mbit/s on average.

The highest traffic spike was 1270 Mbit/s, which represents 12,7% of the maximum capacity. The 95th percentile landed on 894 Mbit/s, meaning the traffic load was below 8,9% of the maximum capacity for 95% of the time.

In total 199 TB of traffic was encrypted and anonymized by the VPN servers in Malmö.

The Malmö datacenter had an uptime of 100% during July.

Analysis

Our datacenter in Stockholm has a maximum capacity of 10 Gbit/s. However, during July the average traffic load was 1925 Mbit/s.

The largest traffic spike recorded was 6200 Mbit/s, which represents 30,0% of the maximum capacity and was due to an incoming attack. If that attack is regarded, the largest traffic spile was 3850 Mbit/s which is 38,5% of the max capacity.

The 95th percentile landed on 2900 Mbit/s, meaning the traffic load was below 29,0% of the maximum capacity for 95% of the time.

In total 642 TB of traffic was encrypted and anonymized by the servers in Stockholm.

The Stockholm datacenter had an uptime of 100% during July.

Analysis

We deployed our servers in Frankfurt on January 31st, meaning July is the sixth full month the servers have been running. The Frankfurt datacenter has a maximum capacity of 10 Gbit/s. However, the traffic load was a mere 85 Mbit/s on average in July.

The largest traffic spike recorded was 344 Mbit/s, which represents 3,4% of the maximum capacity. The 95th percentile landed on 185 Mbit/s, meaning the traffic load was below 1,85% of the maximum capacity for 95% of the time.

In total a mere 30 TB of traffic was encrypted and anonymized in the Frankfurt datacenter. We will shortly start a larger international campaign since we have so much unused capacity in Frankfurt.

Frankfurt had an uptime of 100% during July.

WEB01 had an uptime of 99,92% and an average response time of 60,54 ms in July.

Database

SQL01 had an uptime of 99,94% and an average response time of 8,08 ms in July.
